Sleep problems and pain

When people with FMS sleep they rarely reach the deep sleep stage, which is why they still feel exhausted. The worst sleep nights often lead to the most painful days. This is because the growth hormone that helps to heal troubled tissues is released during that critical stage of sleep - which FMS patients rarely achieve.

Pain tracking
Keep a pain journal. Track how you feel each day, at different times of the day. Record what you eat, what the weather was like – anything that may contribute to pain and discomfort. Not only will this help you to learn what activities and foods to avoid, but the journal may prove valuable should you be trying to support a disability claim.
